I love the diagram you post about the innovative mindset. It is a great way to picture what you need to have in mind to accomplish it, I think you need to practice and own those characteristics in order to teach them to your students. If you do not know how to implement them in a daily bases you can not guide your students in the development of these skills.
I'm agree with we have to motivate the students to take risks in the process of innovation because from mistakes you can learn.
